Born in Michigan, went to Alaska after college at Marquette, Michigan. I was always more interested in nature and outdoors than in the urban life.
I taught in the Alaska bush, met my wife-to-be, Lynn, in Fairbanks at University of Alaska. We raised our family at Eagle, on the Upper Yukon River. Moved to Houghton, Mi after retiring from teaching in Alaska. Began guiding sea kayak trips in the summer, a few summer guiding trips to Alaska, and guiding dog team trips in the winter.
I live with my wife in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. We live on our little homestead with wood heat, gardens and slow cookin'. Long forays around Lake Superior, the UP, Wisconsin and the Arrowhead region of Minnesota for guiding and being outside round out my life.
